50 KITCHENS THAT MAKE A CASE FOR COLOUR: “Dreamy pale mint is an unexpected hue in this millennial-approved kitchen, but it definitely was the right choice by designer Ami McKay, who says the color can read as blue or gray depending on the time of day and light.”

“If you’ve been flipping through our magazine in the past few years, you’ll probably recognize Vancouver-based designer Ami McKay. Her enchanting spaces draw inspiration from British Columbia’s rugged mountains and lapping ocean waves, while prioritizing eco-friendly design. From natural materials to unexpected pops of color and texture, discover how to decorate like Ami. Turns out, you don’t have to live on the West Coast to steal her style!”

“Simplicity defines the interior design. “We kept the base light and natural,” Ami says. “Then, we made it fun, colourful and happy.” The dining area’s banquette extends out from the kitchen, offering space-saving seating for a crowd and storage underneath. A curated selection of pillows injects contemporary flair, while sprightly gnomes (above) from Denmark imbue a magical Christmas mood. Ami made the simple garland with fir and eucalyptus sprigs; for the rest of the year, this wire holds children’s artwork.”
